Welcome to the Machine… PrimaLuna DiaLogue Premium Integrated Amplifier 2012

Welcome to the Machine… is a remark of a journalist, who normally work with devices that costs 10 times more, while watching the inside of the new PrimaLuna DiaLogue Premium Integrated during the Las Vegas CES show. His second remark was “May I listen to…?”. So we did organize for him and his colleagues a private listening session in the evening of the first CES day.

The standard joke of Kevin (our distributor) is “lift it up first”. Not that the weight means sound quality, but it gives an impressive impression. Certainly with the DiaLogue Premium Integrated Amplifier. The “little one” of the two could not lift it up! We were laughing loud, lucky us, him too.

The listening session -with the Amati futura- did not last long, maximum half an hour (I guess). But one said to be “flabbergasted” and the other one that he was listening to an amplifier around US$ 7000. Well, a good feeling.

What makes the development of the famous PrimaLuna DiaLogue Two Integrated Amplifier so special? Let’s try to explain what we all did after building the first prototype to get what is now, an unbeatable tube product for that price. Full of features that other brands do not have, full of features that other brands for that price do not want to offer or cannot offer.

In the next post, I want to describe and explain the features of the new PrimaLuna DiaLogue Premium Integrated Amplifier.

The CD player PrimaLuna has also tubes. They glow so nicely!

The first manufacturer that we meet is PrimaLuna. The brand is in the hands of Durob Audio. They introduce a new cd-player and amplifier. The ProLogue (cd-player: 3799 dollar) en DiaLogue Premium (amplifier: 3199 dollar). Nice products in which we can clearly see that it is hand work. The sound is extremely souple and stress loss. We like that!

De eerste fabrikant die we aanschieten is PrimaLuna. Een merk dat in handen is van Durob Audio. Ze hebben een nieuwe cd-speler en versterker. De Prologue (cd-speler: 3799 dollar) en Dialogue Premium (versterker 3199 dollar).  Mooie producten waarbij nog goed zichtbaar is dat het handwerk is. De klank is uitermate soepel en stressloos. Daar houden we wel van.

CES 2012 report from Stereophile magazine by Stephen Mejias

Upscale Audio’s Kevin Deal is excited about PrimaLuna’s new DiaLogue Premium integrated amplifier ($3199), and I can’t blame him: The DiaLogue Premium uses six 12AU7 tubes, said to produce a wider bandwidth, greater dynamic range, and improved bass control over previous DiaLogue models; users can have fun swapping between 6L6GC/KT66, EL-34/KT77, 6550/KT88, and KT120 power tubes; a “Bad Tube Indicator” lets you know when a tube has expired and provides automatic bias adjustment; a high-quality Alps potentiometer should provide long-lasting, quiet volume control; and, like every PrimaLuna amp we’ve seen, the DiaLogue Premium is beautifully built and finished.

A look inside the PrimaLuna DiaLogue Premium integrated amplifier ($3199) reveals neat point-to-point wiring and high-quality parts, like Takman resistors and SRC tinfoil capacitors—stuff that an amp-lover like Art Dudley might appreciate.

CES 2012 Las Vegas, here PrimaLuna comes…

PrimaLuna will have the DiaLogue Three preamplifier and the DiaLogue Seven mono amplifiers, playing with the Sonus faber Amati futura speakers, and the ProLogue Premium cd-player. DH Labs cables and PS Audio power plants will be used.

PrimaLuna will show and introduce the new DiaLogue Premium Integrated Amplifier. Our best PrimaLuna value ever!
