Kevin Deal, our USA distributor reports from Rocky Mountain Audiofest

Rocky Mountain Audiofest has become a destination show for manufactureres, dealers, and most of all, enthusiasts. The feeling and overall “vibe” is one of loosening your tie and having fun with audio. Never have I seen so many people share in a common love. Music and the coolest of the cool gear.

The PrimaLuna room, as expected, is very well attended. Teaming up once again with Sonus faber, the room competes in sound with cost-no object rooms. At the show we are featuring the new ProLogue Premium Preamplifier and Premium Mono Amplifiers together with the Stereophile Class A rated ProLogue Eight CD player.

The Sonus faber Liuto loudspeakers are wonderful, and their 9″ woofer driven by the prodigious monoblocs amp are producing a wonderful and tight bass that have people looking around the room for the subwoofer. I’m so happy to say that the PrimaLuna room is for sure one of the best sounding rooms at the show though our system as a whole costs less that other rooms interconnect costs.

A tip of that hat to the Denver area dealer manning the rooms, Listen Up. We’re having a time of it.

So far Kevin Deal, our USA distributor, reporting from Rocky Mountain Audiofest.

Thanks Kevin. Nice for us to “be there” without “being there”, although it feels like this is a new show with audio-fun, which means the new show to be? By the way, we used to sing “Something’s jumpin’! Jumpin’ in your shirt”, but now I notice something growing under your mouth. Is that real hair?

    Kevin,

It was good to meet you at RMAF, and even better to spend some time (on more than one occasion) in the PrimaLuna room. I felt in love with the sound, and yeah before I left I bought the Premium Preamp and Stereo Amplifier.

I’m looking forward to taking delivery of them here in San Diego and hearing more of that detailed, transparent tube sweetness in my system!

      Thanks for the note!

The room soundded incredible. Kudos to Sonus faber for supplying the speakers. They have been good friends for a long time and we look forward to working with them again.

      Best

Nice report and pictures. And indeed a very good match; PrimaLuna with Sonus Faber!

I ordered the Prologue Three over one week ago and I’m just wondering if the Sonus Faber Liuto will be a good match to the PrimaLuna Prologue Three and Seven combo. As I’m new to all this any response will be much appreciated.

      Hii nEdwin…

It’s like peanut butter and jelly. In fact I am doing some tube-rolling right now with PrimaLuna and Liuto’s. It is a match made in heaven.

The ProLogue Seven’s may well be on of the best buys in hi-fi. I can’t think of another amp anywhere near it’s price using two output transformers. The resulting three sets of speaker taps (2 ohm, 4 ohm, and 8 ohm) means that is you use Magnaplaner or Wilson’s you won’t get tripped up because of impedance dips.

The Liuto has a pretty easy impedance curve, so you are in for a treat. Realy really a nice system. Congratulations.

        Hi Kevin,

Thanks for your input. I’m really looking forward to get my new system up and running.

      Dear Edwin,

In my shop I often demonstrate Prologue 3 and 7 with the Liuto’s. Everybody is always surprised by the easyness and liquidity of the sound. The combination of these three gives you much more than you would expect in this price-category. You too will be pleasantly surprised!
