The team of Upscale Audio received a great review of our PrimaLuna EVO 300 Tube Integrated Amplifier.
I received this amp from FedEx yesterday. This was an upgrade from my PrimaLuna ProLogue premium integrated that I had purchased a couple of weeks ago. I was thoroughly impressed with the ProLogue over my previous amp, the Rogue Audio Sphinx. Once I heard the ProLogue I had to upgrade to the Evo 300 and see if the increased bandwidth and other improvements would be obvious to my ear.
Right away I noticed a slightly bigger soundstage and a little more air surrounding the vocals. Their was good definition and slam to the bass.
The amp was a bit bright out of the box but it started to settle in nicely after only a few hours of play. I really enjoyed the ability to switch back & forth between triode and ultra linear modes. Playing the CD’s/tracks: Eva Cassidy (Live at Blues Alley), John Lee Hooker (I’m just a country boy), and Janis Joplin (Kosmic Blues -Live) in triode mode was a real treat. It brought a lot of texture & emotion to the vocals.
Overall, I am really excited about the upgrade and am looking forward to many long days of music enjoyment in the future. I will be adding a turntable to my system in a couple of months. I am currently waiting for a Border Patrol DAC to add to my Cambridge CXC transport.
