Different manufacturers have been making Hybrid amplifiers with varying degrees of success for many years! The main reason is that there is demand from the market for a combination of tubes and solid-state. This could be because a tube enthusiast would still like to experience more power. Another reason could be someone who plays with a solid-state amplifier but is still curious about tubes or does not want to make the step to a full tube amplifier!

“….. If the glowing praise in The Absolute Sound review didn’t really turn heads and help people understand how good this unit is, then I’m not sure what would. I am effusive in my praise of the EVO 300 Hybrid. It’s preaching to the choir, but I’ll go watch this video review just for fun. “Endgame” is spot on. I just don’t know how much more engineering you’d have to throw at this product and how much more it would have to retail for to get sound that’s any more perfectly balanced … perfectly balanced! I’d wager you’d have to be in the $25k+ range to find an amp that performs “better” than the EVO Hybrid (I say that and still would be surprised). I used to go to audio shows and listened to all the highest end gear shown and all of it was wonderful, but PL’s Hybrid is a stunning example of how good a company’s product can be when excellent choices are made, and a wonderfully engineered product is produced at a reasonable price. I think the Hybrid will go down in history as one of the best performance/price ratios; and a sonic giant killer for many times the price …..”
