Not only is the PrimaLuna EVO 400 Tube Integrated Amplifier one of the most popular PrimaLuna amplifiers, according to PrimaLuna owners, dealers, distributors, and press, it is also one of the world’s easiest tube amplifiers to live with.
Connecting the amplifier generally takes about 20 minutes. The hardest part is lifting the amp out of the box and putting it in place. Owners of a PrimaLuna amp will recognize that when taking the amp out of the box, it is accompanied by a big sigh and possibly some cursing
But once the amp is in place, the foam has been removed from the tubes, the cables have been connected, and the warm-up period is complete, the FUN begins! What first stands out are the tubes glowing very nicely. To get into the mood, you can dim the light of your room. A lovely romantic experience!
The EVO 400 Tube Integrated Amplifier comes standard with 8 x power EL34 tubes, but you can change to KT tubes. To do so, switch the bias switch on the side of the amp from low bias to high bias.
The EVO 400’s remote control also shows that the amp can be listened to in both triode and ultra-linear. You can use the triode ultra-linear function to choose which “mode” sounds best when listening to different music genres.
