New Review: The Exceptional electronic temptation by Viktor Kubal – High & Style Magazine

A THREESOME! The Exceptional electronic temptation

Last week Marek Kohut of Kohut Audio, our PrimaLuna distributor for Czech Republic & Slovakia, sent us a very positive review.

In this review, THREE PrimaLuna products were tested. Our PrimaLuna EVO 100 Tube DAC in combination with the PrimaLuna EVO 400 Tube Preamplifier & EVO 400 Tube Power amplifier! Mr. Viktor Kubal from High&Style Magazine in the Czech Republic wrote the review.

One of the conclusions is that for sure the PrimaLuna EVO 100 Tube DAC is so special, that it will become subject of a dedicated follow-up review.

The original review is, of course, written in the Czech language, but together with Mr. Viktor Kubal, we have made the review also available in English. Click on the link below to read the entire review!

Owner Review! PrimaLuna EVO 300 Hybrid Integrated Amplifier

I have listened now for quite some time to both the EVO 300 Tube Integrated amplifier and the EVO 300 Hybrid Integrated Amplifier from PrimaLuna. The EVO 300 Hybrid connects to my Sonus faber Guarneri Evolution speakers. With my Rega P10 turntable and Rega Apollo CD player, this is a very nice combination.

The difference between the EVO 300 Tube and EVO 300 Hybrid, in my opinion, is mainly the power and low-end reproduction. Another advantage is that the EVO 300 Hybrid does not get as hot. Ideal if you have grandchildren like me.

The match with the Sonus faber speakers seems to be a perfect one. The sound is very dynamic, especially when I play old Mobile Fidelity records from Pink Floyd and Supertramp. A feast for the ear. It’s optimal enjoyment, especially in the lows and mids. The voices and polyphony in different styles of music are of unparalleled beauty. It is a fantastic experience to listen to the new releases of Beatles records. Miles Davis’ “Kind of Blue” sounds fantastic and is more powerful with the EVO 300 Hybrid. Since I have a collection of records that varies from Abba to Zappa, it is nice to realize that I can listen to a broader range of music with this amplifier. Before, I used to play less solid rock records. Now that is a different story and Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana sounds fantastic.

Classical music and jazz are also getting more attention. The highs are mostly detailed in semi-acoustic music, and the mids are balanced.

The Japanese pressing of Sympathy for the Devil by the Stones sounds almost like listening to a different song. While listening to layered vocals like CSN&Y or Crowded House, I noticed the sound is deeper and more detailed. In the fantastic blues song Tin Pan Alley by Stevie Ray Vaughn, it strikes me that no matter how high you put the volume, there is no distortion. A real joy! Such a nicely balanced percussion.

The headphone connection is as good, and the refined sound quality with my Bowers & Wilkins PX 7 headphones is worth mentioning.

New Review: PrimaLuna EVO 400 Tube Integrated Amplifier by Rafael Todes – Hi-Fi+ Magazine

“Like other PrimaLuna models, the Evo 400 integrated amplifier is an extraordinary mixture of being low maintenance, and a great first valve amplifier, combined with a spot of tube-rolling audio nervosa paradise. The ability to change between ultralinear and triode at the flick of a remote control button, combined with the ability to use different valve types means that this amplifier can indeed be all things to all people, or ‘cakeism’ as the modern turn of phrase goes. But not only is this the ultimate ‘cakeist’ amplifier, it actually does the various options extremely well. It is not only an educational experience, it is also extremely satisfying to listen to. Well thought out, well executed, and creates a high bar for those few competitors at this price!”
