Las Vegas (5)

January 9th, 2011

Well there has been an internet problem at the hotel, but we are back…

The CES closed its door a few hours ago, but we are not yet ready with our business meetings; the last one being planned at 9 o’clock tomorrow night. Then we will pack and back to Holland full of energy and ideas.

The show was fantastic. Only once Herman felt as killing two guys. While he was stepping in the elevator, two Chinese guys were standing there and one of them had a PrimaLuna DiaLogue into his hands. Right away, Herman thought: stealing?!, but he looked closer to the product and saw that it was no PrimaLuna, but a tube amplifier with a rough copy of our grid. By rough, we mean ugly. Herman looked surprised telling himself: how do they dare? So Herman asked them: “Hey is this a PrimaLuna?” and they replied: “No”. So Herman went on and said: “But it looks so much as a PrimaLuna.” Then one of the Chinese said: “I never heard a PrimaLuna.” And Herman replied “You maybe never heard it, but you looked damned good at it. You certainly like my design very much, but if you intend to copy you should at least try to do better” and he added: “I guess that if you do not have enough originality for the appearance, you certainly also copied the inside, can you tell me if it is also a copy?” They did not know what to reply and they left full speed, they certainly thought that they had to stay out of the way of those Western guys!

We have still a few pictures taken during the show, a bit of everything so that you can feel the atmosphere.

Maar hopen dat zij zich ook een breuk hebben gesjouwd.

But he also hoped that a break have lugged, of zoiets.

    • Hi Harrie,

I understand what you mean :-). You hope that their amp was as heavy as our DiaLogue. Well it was not a light amp, but for sure it was a much lighter amp than the DiaLogue amp otherwise these Chinese (Taiwanese actually) could not have “speed up” as much as they did when I started to make remarks and ask questions. Don’t worry, they might think they get away with it by running away, we will “follow” them.

      Best regards,

      Herman

Thanks for giving some different kind of CES news. Specially the pictures with the hifi babes passing by, made me come back every day. You know what the lonely audiophile needs once in a while.
